D'origine juive polonaise, Ita-Rose est venue rejoindre son mari en France en 1931 pour fonder une famille à Paris. Mais au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, elle a perdu trois de ses enfants et son mari parce qu'ils étaient juifs. Elle s'est ensuite battue pour que les crimes de Klaus Barbie ne restent pas impunis.
