About the Author

Vanessa Gardner was born in England and moved to South Carolina at the age of thirty with her husband and daughter. Chronic illness forced her to spend several years at home resting which came extremely hard to a woman who had always worked and busied herself. Unable at times to do anything but lay in bed she re read some letters sent to her by her father from England. He had sent letters as if the pens themselves were doing the talking which evoked the idea for this book. Her spirit was lifted, the characters became daily daydreams and the thought of pens and pencils coming to life became something other than her health to focus on.
