Renganaton: Bookiesode 1: Where do I go from here?
Psychological drama in a sci-fi world. Slice of life with unique storytelling. Young people dealing with harsh realities of life. Straight from yet another unsuccessful runaway attempt, Galdor lands straight back where he started. With his heavy handed father who likes to teach him life lessons with his fists. Step mother who likes to turn a blind eye to what is happening at her home and his mates... His Taba... and the lifestyle that comes with it. While running and jumping on the roofs, wild parties and occasional quickie with 'what was your name again?' sounds like a fun way to escape the depressing reality of Renganaton's teenager; he has other plans. He needs to as the darkness from his past starts to lay an ever growing shadow on his present life. But will he be able to escape, especially now when he suddenly discovers that the person he barely ever noticed becomes the center of his world. Unique and quirky story seen through the main characters' eyes. World unraveled through events that seemingly mundane, add up to a gripping narrative of growing up, friendship, abuse and love. Renganaton is designed as a long spanning series with several bookiesodes already published and many, many more in writing.

I’m not even sure where to begin with Renganaton because I finished this book intrigued, confused, and with a LOT of questions. Galdor’s story took me some time to get used to, especially the way he speaks and thinks. The narrative puts you directly into his head, and at times I found myself rereading sections trying to figure out exactly what was happening. There were also moments where the story seemed to move somewhere else before I realized where we were. But the more I thought about it, the more curious I became. Galdor is dealing with a difficult home life while finding freedom with his Taba and through roof running. Then there’s the mysterious red haze. What is it? Where is it going? Is it eventually going to become some kind of power? I still don’t know—and I want to know. This isn’t structured like a traditional novel where everything gets explained and wrapped up by the end. It feels more like an episode in a much larger story where we’re discovering Galdor and his world as he does. The writing style won’t be for everyone. It took me a while to adjust to being so deeply inside Galdor’s thoughts, and there were times when I genuinely struggled to follow what was happening. But somehow, all that confusion left me wanting answers rather than wanting to walk away. So what did I do? I bought the next two books. 😂 I think that probably says more about my experience than anything else. Renganaton left me intrigued. Confused. And wondering what will happen next. I also want to THANK the author for answering all the questions I had about what was going on in the book.
