True Colors
Author LaToya Faustin is a non-profit leader, community advocate, teacher, mother, daughter, and friend. Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, LaToya dedicated her life to serving others and empowering communities with the resources needed to advocate for themselves. Having received both her bachelors and masters degrees from Elon University and certifications from Duke and Cornell, LaToya is a lifelong learner and lover of discovery and exploration. In 2024, LaToya became a homeschool mom to her son, Thaddeus. Thaddeus is an intelligent, inquisitive, and talented little boy who inspires her to make the world his classroom and to look for teachable moments all around. LaToya and Thaddeus live, learn, and explore in Charlotte, North Carolina. The book, TRUE COLORS, was inspired by events during a leadership retreat. While spending time in nature and solitude, LaToya noticed a single leaf that had changed colors and it peaked her interest. TRUE COLORS helps children to embrace their uniqueness as something to be celebrated. Brilliantly illustrated by youth artist, Camryn Green, the main character is inspired by LaToya’s son to encourage kids to ask questions, explore, and seek out their individuality.
