Black Swan, White Raven

These are not the fairy tales you heard at your grandmother's knee. Editors Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling have once again assembled a stellar array of superb storytellers to explore the classic fables we were raised on from an edgy, original and manifestly grown up point of view. Timeless fears, erotic enchantments, and contemporary adult angst are all brilliantly exposed, as sleeping beauties awaken to princes not-so-charming, and events transpiring behind closed candy doors of gingerbread houses turn out to be anything but sweet. Twenty-one exceptional writers reexamine beloved childhood fictions in a darker light, revealing the sobering truth in myth and the lie in happily ever after.
