Reeser Peland, marsupial captain of the Aquillion, has been spied on through a stone! The supernaturally beautiful Chrysoliene, prized by Marsupian collectors, is found exclusively on the planet Minan. Only Royal Bloom, a rare herb, can activate its secret viewing capabilities and now distributorship of that very herb has been offered to Reeser, apparently to bring him to Minan...but why? The Minans, hidden in their veils and flowing robes, may not be what they claim -- just another race of Marsupians -- their true biological identities held secret for centuries, protected by tradition, the veils and by law. Will increasingly violent resentment be their downfall? What is their connection to and interest in Earth where Reeser will soon be taking a scientific expedition? And Anwic Dzula, the captain of the Lalf, may not be what he claims either. Is Anwic part of a Minan conspiracy to lure Reeser to his death?
