Joe Carpenter had done a lot of things in his life. He’d been in the military, raised a family, became a detective in the Boston Police Department, retired to become a private detective and later went back to school to learn about software design. Then he started his own company that specialized in anti-virus software. He wasn’t trying to get rich but only to keep himself busy in his retirement years, when he stumbled onto creating a product that would eventually make him incredibly wealthy.Later, when he sold his company, he gave away money to friends, family and many charities. Then he went on a buying spree purchasing several properties in beautiful places in Florida, California, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Ireland, Monaco, Italy, Portugal and Croatia. He also leased his own private jet, so he didn’t have to wait in long lines to get on a plane to go to his houses. He also bought a couple of yachts.Joe had no desire to ever work again. He never liked any of his careers or working in general. Even the jobs that he thought he liked; he really didn’t. Retirement in his mid-fifties suited him. Even though he was in his fifties, he appeared younger. Life would continue to be good for Joe. That’s where he was on the day that he found the body floating in his backyard swimming pool.
