Rising Sun

Miguel Ángel Galindo

Rising Sun is a ritual tour through different impossible stages, visions for a kind of poetry of resounding research, of extreme and strange images, in debt with the Spanish literary avant-gardes. Its author, trapped between the philosophical keys of European irrationalism and the reality of a life on a volcanic island in the middle of the ocean, gives pictorial answers to the apparitions of good love, to the oath of sacredness toward the word, to the void extra-literary reality. He flees from the poetry of experience1 altars of experimentation. Poetry and miracle. Poems in order to close his eyes in the midst of a rain-forest ablaze. Poems for nudity to be something other than an offering of flesh and neon lights. A rising sun floods us expelling deities without make up, mirages or roulettes of a creative mind that never sleeps. Never. Cult, accursed, impossible poetry. "Do not detach your lips" from its pages. Do not switch off the lights of the bathtubs in which the poet draws a picture of you before you were born, before he shaves beside the hypnotic child that you are, far away from spikes and inscriptions. Nunca. Poesa de culto, maldita, imposible. "No apartes los labios" de sus pginas. No apagues las luces de las baeras en las que el poeta te pinta antes de nacer, antes de afeitarse junto al nio hipntico que eres lejos de las pas y de las inscripciones.____1 A Spanish literary movement, "Poesa de la experiencia" (born in 1983 as a literary manifesto created and signed by poets Luis Garca Montero, lvaro Salvador and Javier Egea, which enhanced the comprehension of reality through each author's subjectivity, represented in his or her own biography: see http://www.cervantesvirtual.com/portal/pec/ptercernivel.jsp'conten=historia&pagina=historia7.jsp&tit3=Entre+la+disidencia+y+la+asimilaci%F3n%3A+la+po%E9tica+de+la+experiencia for its history and main literary features), not to be confused with what Robert Langbaum dealt with in his book The Poetry of Experience: The Dramatic Monologue in Modern Literary Tradition (Chatto & Windus, 1957; originally published in 1923): English poetry from Wordsworth to Yeats.
