Paused

Most of us are pretty happy with how we are doing life, even if there is a certain amount of chaos going on around us. We’ve made some good choices; done some good things. Maybe we have accumulated some worldly things and experienced some worldly pleasures. When we feel proud of our accomplishments, we are exulting ourselves above God. In this life, that is kind of normal, and there are many who may also laud our efforts and achievements, but everything we accomplish is by the power of the Holy Spirit, not us. When we give the credit to ourselves or others, we are cheating God of His glory and honor. God is all about mercy and grace, so He does give us some room to crow about ourselves, but there are limits to His grace. If you look back over history; maybe just back over your own brief history, you will see seasons where God has put normal life on pause, interrupting what we consider the norm to remind us He is in control of everything. God can certainly put a pause on life when He wants to. We may see something like that in our future, but remember God is always our hope. We must trust in Him even when normal life is put on hold. Roger and Mary were living a normal life until one early morning, everything changed. The normal life they enjoyed and depended on simply changed, like the lights went out! How they respond to this new normal is enlightening and thought-provoking. While this event is unlikely, it is certainly possible. As you read this adventure into the unknown, imagine yourself in their shoes. What would you do if God put your life, your normal life, on pause?
