Doll House

"A book of the year!" -Buried in a Book

"This book is not for the faint of heart. It's deliciously dark and gruesome." -Where the Reader Grows

"All you girls were less than human. Play things in a twisted doll house."

Olivia is taken from the sidewalk near her college and thrown into a van. Her captors, who she soon discovers are vile, sadistic monsters, abuse her immediately, both mentally and physically. Then she is taken into a house, into a locked room, where everything is cotton candy pink. The pink furniture is designed with rounded edges and corners bolted to the floor, and the seams at the bolts melted. This is where the nightmare begins. She is now a part of their collection.

While disturbing in nature and horrific at times, John Hunt has created a masterpiece psychological thriller, full of suspense. Olivia makes heroines of similar genre books pale in comparison. She is one of the bravest you'll ever meet and her story will move you.

★★★★☆

Olivia is excited about her first days at College away from her dad. Once unpacked and her dad Harry leaves. Olivia starts to explore the campus and around on her own. That was when her whole world went black. 5 years later.. Harry gets a phone call he never would’ve expected, it’s his daughter, who had disappeared 5 years ago. Olivia with two other girls.. Lucy and Jen have escaped their abductors. Who had been doing unthinkable things to them. One of the abductors makes a mistake and Olivia snd the girls find themselves free. Broken, terrified but free. But one of the abductors is still out there. Are the girls safe?.. or are they going suffer even more at the hands of a mad man’s obsession. I generally really like this book. The story felt like an extreme thriller. Olivia was not as bad the other reviewers out there say she is. It brought in how this family can still survive after 5 years away. A thrilling awareness, that you aren’t always safe, like you think you are. It has mental health awareness in one character. Substance abuse awareness in another. I love a strong female MC but I also liked the back up characters as well. And even a dog hero. Brutus. My dislikes: it seems entirely to long. Some of the story did drag a little. Read with caution. ⚠️ Trigger Warnings ⚠️
