Katie Tilman longs for the mountains of home. She takes a job as a kindergarten teacher in the small town she left more than a decade before. She didn't count on running into Amos, her childhood crush, or finding that he'd grown into an incredibly hot man. Nor did she count on finding her addict brother, Miles, had returned and his presence dredges up too much history.

Amos Kimmel's dreams are simple. He wants his kid sister to go to university, his older sister to take over the family garage and the town to approve a paid fire department. The last one is the easy one. Nowhere in there did he plan on falling for his childhood friend's little sister, Katie. As if that wasn't problem enough, her brother is the reason Amos' life got derailed when they were teenagers.

New police chief Drea Hidalgo-Parsons believes Miles Tilman is the reason behind the rising drug problem in Orchard Creek and asks Amos to help get proof. Torn between his growing feelings for Katie, his desire to protect her and his duty to the town that has supported him, Amos agrees. But going after Miles may mean losing Katie.
