Lock the Door

Bruce W Durbin

A young woman has just moved into a house and has become the target of a serial rapist/killer, with the woman trusting a member of the neighborhood watch, but...he's not what he seems. Tiffany has just purchased a house in a quiet, idyllic neighborhood, where the neighbors are all friendly and everything is perfect from the white picket fences to the manicured lawns, but...unknown to Tiffany, a serial rapist/killer has just picked her neighborhood to find a fresh target and...that target is Tiffany. Eddie and Seth are the Police detectives assigned to the serial rapist/killer investigation, but their investigation has hit a dead end. None of the victims share any common traits or associations. An FBI profiler has identified the rapist/killer as an opportunist; someone who acts, when a victim suddenly appears. Despite all of the surviving victims giving differing descriptions of the rapist/killer, there is one thing that is becoming very apparent: He knows how to effectively break into houses. In Tiffany's new neighborhood, the community has responded to the reports of the serial rapist/killer and have implemented a neighborhood watch, with Dylan, a handsome young man, being one of the members. Tiffany is enjoying drinks with some of her girlfriends, when it is alluded that Tiffany has something of a wild nature and it is not uncommon for her to take a strange man home with her. As the girls talk, it becomes apparent that Tiffany has met Dylan online and plans on meeting him...soon, but admits that she's never seen his face. At the same time, Dylan encounters a stranger in the neighborhood, with a fight ensuing. Tiffany then arrives home, with Dylan knocking on her door. Tiffany is hesitant, but then realizes that it really is Dylan, as he references emails that they've exchanged. Tiffany is uncertain, but sees that Dylan is wearing a neighborhood watch jacket and he's...handsome. Tiffany unlocks her door and allows Dylan to enter. As the two begin talking, it becomes apparent that Dylan is possibly the serial rapist/killer, but Tiffany also has a secret.
