In his fifty-seventh year, Horace Newsom, the world's most heavily-funded scientist, is mysteriously fired. His response is to take the world hostage. The self-proclaimed "intellectual tyrant," creates a global organization of scientists and enlightened thinkers to reshape the world according to his vision, only to disown it, and ultimately destroy it.
