La Louisiane: Récit

George Washington Cable

This volume contains French translations of two short stories written by the American author, George Washington Cable, who was notable for the realism of his portrayals of Creole life in his native New Orleans, Louisiana. These stories were published in the United States in 1874 and 1875 under the titles "Jean-ah Poquelin" and "Belles Demoiselles Plantation." They were translated into French by Thérèse Bentzon for publication in the journal "Revue des deux mondes" in the issues of November 1, 1883, and January 1, 1885. Their titles in French were changed to "Jean Roquelin" and "La plantation des Belles-Demoiselles."
