Mikey's Great Idea

This is an inspirational children's book, based on a true story. With excitement, the main character, Mikey, wants to grow a pumpkin after Halloween, in hopes of making a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. He plants pumpkin seeds in his front yard, eagerly awaiting for a plant to grow. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Mikey tries to keep his hopes up, and learns that waiting longer than expected, is very difficult. Soon after Mikey decides to give up, he is surprised with a single pumpkin sprout. The sprout, grows and continues to grow. At the end of Mikey's pumpkin adventure, he learns that patience is truly a great virtue, and sometimes the reward for waiting, is much greater than expected."Mikey's Great Idea, Faith the Size of 10 Pumpkin Seeds, is based on a true story. Michael, aka Mikey, is my 8 yr old son He insisted on planting pumpkin seeds left over from Halloween in 2017. Unbeknownst to my husband and I, Mikey planted the seeds in front of our house in a small flower bed. He often asked us questions about how pumpkins grow,and wether or not we thought a pumpkin would grow if he planted seeds. With a very busy schedule surrounding our six children,(one of which has special needs), the pumpkin sprout went unnoticed until itbegan to form a ground covering over the flower bed. Often visitors would comment on the smallpumpkin patch, and were pleasantly surprised in learning that Mikey was the one with a green thumb. Eight pumpkinsmade it to maturity, which was noted upon harvesting the pumpkins, 2 weeks prior to Halloween 2018. Mikeyremembered some of the Sunday school lessons he shared with his grandma, and compared his endeavorto biblical teachings referring to, 'hope the size of a mustard seed'.This book is intended for audiences of all ages.
