As KAIAH's senior year in high school comes to end, she believes that she has it all figured out--go to college, pursue a career, and then maybe find a companion to settle down with. But KAIAH's life takes a sudden turn when an unexpected love interest sweeps her off of her feet. Meanwhile, AVALON, who lives in the mid-nineteenth century, struggles to adhere to the societal demands of that time. Altruistic at heart, AVALON is always concerned about the welfare of others, particularly those without a voice. She quickly learns, however, that her desire to advocate for others often comes with adverse risks, especially for those she is trying to help, leaving her feeling helpless in trying to pursue her mission she is so very passionate about. KAIAH and AVALON struggle to make sense of how to best manage their lives respectively, but many do not know that KAIAH and AVALON are actually the same person.
