A Science Fiction Story aimed at pre-teen readers. Background Long ago, a master race developed a unique way of transporting themselves across the universe. Their initial attempts were crude and unreliable, but they soon perfected their technology and built a network of windows connecting all the known and inhabited planets of the galaxy. They, as well as other races, could instantaneously travel to other planets by simply dialing the proper destination code and stepping through the window. Unfortunately, the original creators began to dwindle in number, and the system was not maintained. Today, no one knows if the original creators are still alive. The network of windows has fallen into disrepair. Some work, some dont, and many races avoid the use of the windows to travel beyond their own planets. Part 1: Azra The Richardsons were supposed to enjoy a fun-filled vacation in the mountains, but that was before the big storm. When Kathryn and James took a short hike up the mountain trail, they discovered a large boulder had come loose and partly blocked the path. They should have turned back, but James noticed a strange silver light coming from beyond the rock. He and Kathryn decided to explore. When their parents were gone for too long, Greg, Sarah, Dennis and Megan went to search for them. They found the boulder, the silver light, and eventually, what lay beyond. For them, the adventure was beginning..............

About the Author

Marilyn Wriede was born in New York City, raised in Connecticut, and educated in Virginia. Although she studied science and expected to pursue a career in the health industry, the birth of her first child changed her outlook. She took the role of parent seriously; nurturing, guiding and supporting her three children until they made their own mark in the world. To keep herself challenged during the years as stay at home mom, Marilyn turned to writing, an interest that first surfaced while in high school. Her creative imagination has allowed her to deal with a wide range of fictional topics. Her first novel, published in 2000 by Writers Showcase, was "Songman", a psychic thriller set in the tri-state region around New York City. Her current project, "Windows to the Worlds", is a series of science fiction books aimed at the pre-teen audience. Marilyn currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, Peter. With her children grown and out of the house, she has ample time to let her imagination work its magic to bring new stories to an eager audience.
