The IRA: A Documentary History

The IRA: A Documentary History traces the organisation from its origins, through the War of Independence and up to recent times. The rarely seen internal documentation, photographs and newspaper clippings tell the story of the IRA in its own words.

The result is a rare glimpse into the workings of one of the most enduring revolutionary organisations in the world.

'The incisive and truthful narrative complements the original documents, leaflets, photographs, newspapers and posters. By distinguishing between myth and reality, Hanley skilfully captures the essence of the IRA over the last one hundred years.' Diarmaid Ferriter
