A Budding Rose (The White Rose Series)
Beneath the indiscriminate boots of posturing adversaries are trampled the unfortunate saplings that are naught but weeds in a garden of subterfuge. Though she manages to escape Hell, the lonely survivor— a young girl— faces eradication, lest divine intervention intercede to exonerate her from her spurned sentence. Her salvation arrives in the form of a White Rose— borne upon petals as reticent as the snow— who spirits away the young girl from the nihility from whence she fled.
Across a continent from whose purview her village remained shrouded in insignificance, the young girl travels in search of the promised sanctuary, but in the shadows stalks Death, and from her odyssey its siren song attempts to persuade her. Discovering she is possessed of the same power as the White Rose, the young girl rejects the laws by which magistrates adjudicate, and by lex talionis she justifies motive.
Though she finds protection within the thicket of the White Rose, others find naught but thorns, and within a city whose walls project discipline— but conceal lawlessness— a phantom feels the White Rose’s sting. Facing the mountainous odds of the fate to which she has been condemned, the dubiety of those from whom she seeks abettance, and the castigation of those she left behind, the young girl sets herself upon the path of a White Rose.
