He dreams of life full of adventure, like in the stories his father tells them of a time fraught with danger and excitement. But everything changes one frightful night when fires glaze in the Lower District, screams fill the air, and a man known as Rovnik usurps the throne. The boys flee the city with their parents, their father acting the warrior in ways the boys had never known. Why are his parents so concerned about the red orb around Rovnik’s neck? To his amazement, David learns that he comes from a lineage of heroes called Sword Whisperers, who, when called, save the world from peril. Spanning back decades, the evil that now lurks and the needs of the time result in the rarest type of Whisperer of all. When their parents are captured, David must rely on his wits and the bond of brotherhood to confront an evil he’s barely begun to understand.
