The Halfling's Choice
A hundred years have passed since the Great War. In that time, the enemy has grown strong even as the long-lived creatures of the sky remain divided. If the graeven, seraphim, and dragons cannot reestablish their old alliance, they will lose their remaining lands. Deriven has recently lost his graeven father to the intensifying conflict and now, as his seraphim mother grieves, his sister is made a prisoner in the Fortress of Corinth by a sadistic graeve Deriven has met before. If Deriven is to save what remains of his family, he must seek help from others and trust that their self-interest will overcome the universal dislike of halflings like himself and his sister Salura. Deriven will seek out Hunter of Men, legendary leader of the dragons during the Great War, and Lorack, the embittered graeven father of a half-Regiran son. He will need the help of Kalinn, the first Regiran Deriven has met, and he will endure the company of Toren, a seraph who dreams of becoming more than he is. Encountering friendships for the first time, Deriven’s world expands. The needs of others soon become his own, and he takes his first steps on the path to becoming the leader his mother knows he is destined to be.
