It Could Have Been Different

Drew Ange Smith

This book originated as a master's thesis which grew and evolved into a post-doctoral dissertation. As published, it is the field guide form of the dissertation. As the author has studied the subject over more than forty years, he noticed that the existing guides to the subject all were lacking in some important way. The result is the inclusion of all of these components into one concise guide. It is designed for the novice as well as the advanced naturalist. Drew "Ange" J. Smith holds a Ph.D. in archaeology and a post-doctorate D.Sc. in botany and mycology. He earned a M.S. in environmental science and a M.A. in history. In his undergraduate studies he holds a B.S. in earth and life science and a B.A. in integrated social sciences. He has studied German at Berlitz. A writer, lecturer, journalist, professor, archaeologist, naturalist, photographer, artist, and historian, who has lectured for twenty years in these areas throughout the nation. He has appeared on CBS Today, on CSPAN's DeToqueville in America series, and on local cable television. Dr. Smith also served for many years on New York State's Twentieth Congressional District's advisory committees on the environment and science and technology. He is listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and has been a member of Mensa.
