Something In The Water

Bob Morton

Somewhere in the Midwest of these United States a town named Mulletville exists. Years ago a child was born there. The child was illegitimate, unwanted, and abandoned immediately after his birth. Something in the Water is the story of this child as he struggles for his identity in a rapidly progressing youth and a short-lived life. It is also the rather seedy history of the town and the people, past and present, whose public persona is vividly different from the lives they live behind closed doors. It is a simple story told in the words of this child as he sits in his death row cell at the Newberry Correctional Institution located near Evanston, Indiana. The child is now twenty-one years old and prepared, if not willing, to die for his wrongdoing(s). Strange…all he ever wanted was a better grade in English.
