Three separate events all linked by intrigue and suspense, plots and counterplots. Special agent Denise Gibson is once again thrown into an investigation of domestic Bioterrorism. This time the deaths hit close to home and involve close friends. It will take all of her willpower to handle the alleged corrupt Senator with kid gloves. Working with her friend Officer Terry Leaphorn of the Napwap Reservation they will try to prove that their two best friends are innocent of all charges. Until, at last, she comes face to face with the real group of terrorists and the members of it whom she has known all her life. Readers expect the suspenseful unexpected from Dwan G. Hightower, whose other novel, Anthrax: The Game and The Deal does not disappoint. Hightower weaves an entertaining web of espionage and terrorism, using NASA as a cover, and delights readers with its complexity and intrigue. And it is all done for greed...or is it? Review The inspiration for this novel clearly has its roots in the here and now between its political, current events-inspired thematic material and action-packed mystery format, it is aimed to appeal to those who enjoy popular modern thrillers, and, in its inception, is reminiscent especially of the television program 24. For those looking for a fast-paced, well-researched thriller, which touches on political and multicultural themes incredibly relevant to today s world, The Deal may make an exciting read indeed. This book s thick plot, as with all good thrillers, begins with a murder scene. The protagonist is, of course, an FBI employee researching domestic terror threats who becomes inextricably tied with the murder victim in ways that weave her into the fabric of the very terror plots she fears. Before long, she and her friends and associates find themselves in the middle of a governmental conspiracy of mass proportions. From the open sky ranches and reservations of Montana to the busy bustle of Washington, D.C., the secrets of The Deal are slowly and skillfully revealed. The book s characters are all clearly drawn interact well with each other and balance well, and, of course, they all come together in the end to save the day. The author is very tactful in her treatment of the characters, and clearly takes pains to make some cultural points, especially seeing how this novel focuses heavily on issues of terrorism. She does a wonderful job of reminding the reader that terrorism is not restricted solely to the Middle East, but can also occur right here in our own backyards. The Deal even touches on certain American racial issues, and does a fantastic job of treating its Native American characters with a kind of label-free neutrality, while still touching on some cultural aspects of that society. The treatment of Native American spirituality is particularly nice. This book urges its readers to see characters as actions rather than identities, a valuable lesson from which we could all benefit. In short, The Deal is a well-thought-out thriller that conforms to the modern ideas of action, mystery, and adventure while still remaining plausible and, even more amazingly, pertinent to the world in which we now live. For an exciting look into terror and conspiracy mingled with murder, adventure, and even some romance, Dwan G. Hightower s newest novel just might be the ticket --Allbooks Review...Christi McEntyre About the Author Dwan G.
