4 1 rating · 1 review on Book Nook

Set at the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Max Yates is let go from his midtown firm employed as a private equity analyst. Having received a generous severance from his former employer, Max is left with nothing but time to reflect on his past and how he got to the current position. This forces Max to reminisce on his first relationship with his college girlfriend Azra, whom he met as a freshman at NYU. With nothing but time on his hands, Max plans a trip to Turkey, Azra's home country, in hopes of finding Azra and finding peace with his fate. Ultimately, Max encounters Azra in the most unusual of places and, while doing so, finds answers to the questions that went wrong in not only his own life but Azra's as well. As the Coronavirus continues to spread throughout the United States, Max finds a beautiful struggle between chasing his future and letting go of his past.

This was a hard one to review. The story kept me interested ( I read physical books very slowly ). I don’t want to give anything away. Max ( our MC ) is let go from his job during the start of the Covid pandemic. He has nothing but time. Which gets him thinking about his College days. Bringing up the memory of Azra, his ex college girlfriend. While on his journey to find her. He reconnects with an old friend Megan. And a one time fling with a fellow traveler. At the end of his journey brings him back to the beginning. Will he ever find her. What will happen next. My Opinion- As I finished this book. I was had multiple feelings about it. The story was great of course. Azra is a mystery, Max isn’t my favourite character to be honest. Megan was the one I was rooting for. She seems sweet. The story works for the most part. What I didn’t understand was that, if he is trying to find his ex gf, to see where things go, why is he putting his d**k in everything that offers him kindness and bolts. But I got the ending I was hoping for and it’s not What people may think. It’s a slow burn to get through. I give it 3.5/5⭐️s4
