Nurse: An Autobiography: From Treating Those Wounded on D-Day to Cuts and Bruises (and Worse) on School Playgrounds, a Faithful Career Caregiver Shares Her Life and Her Loves

Mildred (Acord) Edsall

Nurse Mildred Acord followed her younger brother into military service in World War II. She served with other US Navy medical staff on the southern coast of England at a hospital established to care for those wounded during the D-Day invasion. Years later, she would work as a school nurse caring for children wounded on playgrounds. The daughter of a prison warden and a frugal mother, she lived much of her life on the prison farm. She shares stories from the world and playground wars in her autobiography, as well as other tales from her life and her loves, including her love for her church.
