Monstra Moderna- is a collection of short semi- horror stories. Which I do give props to the author, who is trying to get the book out there. Messaged me on TikTok and asked if I would at least check it out. So I am.. since it is a collection of short stories. I will rate the stories. And then the Final rating will be my thoughts about the book. I listened to this as an audiobook, read by Alexa from my kindle app. Werewolf- not sure what the title had to do with the story or anything. Unless thats what they call the main character. I feel like the character had a psychotic break and might have caused a crime. Even he doesn’t know. 3/5 stars. Wendigo- seemed futuristic story- diary enteries from space? .. set in 2079. These Diary enteries are company enforced. So are they under observation on a spaceship? Science experiments?.. With subtle cannibalism. 4/5 stars. Seance- did a girl summon something evil? ( very short ) 2/5 stars. Hauntings- ** trigger warning ** did a secret addiction and affair cause this? A really sad story. This made me want to cry.. 5/5 stars Frankenstein- robbery and “adult” kidnapping leads to something more terrifying. 3/5 stars Creepy Crawlies- ** TRIGGER-WARNING** psychotic, animal abuse and fear of bugs all in one! This one was hard to rate. Because it was good. But gawd-damn. 4.5/5 stars Demons- ** trigger -warnings ** pedophilia tendencies, incest tendencies, going to college with a secret, finding yourself, self hatred, maybe even murder. But did he actually do it? 3.5/5 stars ( leaning towards 4 stars ) this was an intense and sad story. At first this book was hard to follow, so you really have to pay attention. I listened to each story about 2 times. I rated it a 4/5 stars, because I felt some of these stories needed trigger warnings. The stories got better as the book went on. The authors writing got better and each story got darker. Which kept my interest. To the author… Good job. I didn’t think I was going to like this and I’m glad I gave it a chance.
