The Summer Between Eternities

When the friendly Colin Maudsley stops to change her flat tire, American widow Laura Johnston is enchanted with his boyish charm and English manners. Colin soon works his way into her heart by offering to repair the thatched roof of a treasured cottage on her farm. Wounded in spirit by her husband's long illness and death, Laura finally finds with Colin her zest for life again. But is Colin really who he appears to be? After Laura catches disturbing glimpses of unexplained fear and anger, her son, Calvin, sets an investigator to uncover the truth of Colin's past-and puts Colin on the path to an airline disaster at summer's end. Tom Taylor's fast-paced novel, The Summer between Eternities, brilliantly interweaves the story of Colin and Laura with the narrative of other unforgettable characters as all of their paths lead relentlessly to the fateful trans-Atlantic flight. Jennie Li is torn between her love for childhood friend Mark and her call to serve as a missionary to Vietnamese refugees in France. Refugee Hieu Van Tran, recovering from his ordeal as a prisoner in the Vietnam War, struggles to overcome his tortured past and live with his wife again. Husband and wife Bill and Pat Ross seek to regain the love they have lost somewhere along the way. All of them, like Colin, live through an unforgettable summer in their lives. At summer's end, their paths cross as they meet for the airline flight to London and Paris. None of them know the glass terminal doors may be for them the gates to eternity. Immerse yourself in the lives of these enduring characters and recognize God's sovereignty in The Summer between Eternities.
