Listening for Christmas

LISTENING FOR CHRISTMAS is Charmaine Severson's second rhyming Christmas read-aloud. It became popular in newspaper Sunday Magazines across America. This lively story has short lines that helps you read out-loud like a pro. It's the tale of a youngster who loves weird noises on his headphones, never listens to anything anyone says --- and cannot read. After blundering into Santa's secret area, and nearly drowning, Vinny is invited into Santa's secret gift-wrapping center. Magic is everywhere!

Then, suddenly, chaos! The Blue beaster breaks in and steals everything. Vinny must begin to learn reading in order to help Santa. He bravely takes on a toy-rescue mission, to restore the fun side of Christmas. And who better to help late-starting Santa on his around-the-world sleigh run?

This book, illustrated by the author, is in the tradition of JEREMY CREEK'S CHRISTMAS, which famously became the Hanna-Barbera animated Christmas classic, "The Town Santa Forgot." Both books are entertaining, educational, and are suitable for many holiday events --- from a grandparent's read-aloud to a club party recitation for adults. Both books can also aid home-schoolers, or new English speakers. LISTENING FOR CHRISTMAS has a section of learn-to-read puzzles at the end.
