Sideways Wishes

In this middle grade book, seventh grader Kit wishes for many things - for good enough grades to appease her parents, for her perfect older sister to stop bossing her around, but mostly for Todd to like her. After all, she loves baseball. He loves baseball. What more do they need? But Todd is an eighth grader whose smile turns her into a babbling fool. Worse, he thinks of Kit as 'just one of the guys.' Ouch.

When a mysterious woman gives Kit a stone with equally mysterious powers, Kit thinks all her secret wishes will come true -- and they do. Unfortunately, the stone puts its own unpredictable twist on Kit's wishes. Now she's forced to deal with the consequences as she navigates a group project, school play tryouts, and a budding romance.
