Welcome Home Folks
This book, though fictional, portrays things that indeed happened to some families now in East Tennessee. The places are true and you can follow their trek through Tennessee and North Carolina. I will mention three site that will become familiar to you as you read. They are Smoky Mountains National Park, Norris Dam and Melton Valley's Oak Ridge Nuclear Facilities. The time is set in the late thirties and early forties when transportation consisted of horse, mule, oxen and very few automobiles. The mountains were home to a mostly very poor folk and all didn't usually fare as well as the Sparks family portrayed here.
