Scars

The world was destroyed. The old gods, offended by humanity’s temerity, have unleashed their monsters. Now, civilization endures in great city-trees, living above toxic wastes filled with ancient battle plagues, unexploded munitions, and fearsome creatures from half-forgotten legends. It is in this ruined world, on England’s miles-tall birch tree, that seventeen year old Elena Covell is sold into slavery to pay her father’s debts. Her new owner- a mysterious airship captain- takes Elena from the only home she has ever known, to work aboard the legendary airship Rubicon as it journeys to exotic lands. Along the way they are hounded by powerful enemies hunting for information on the Fountain of Youth and looking to settle old scores. Will Elena finally get the adventure that she's only read about in dime store novels, or will the monsters in the wastes claim one more victim?
