The last year ended with a lot of accusations that didn’t flatter his reputation. And the school board was teetering on dismissing him. But thanks to some prominent members of the community interceding for him, the board changed the direction it was going, and asked him to return. What would he do? And while his time of turmoil may be coming to an end, his wife, Anita has one begin. Feelings for her first husband, Jeff, who died only a couple years earlier, are now troubling her. Nightmares and guilt from past actions plague her life. Will they never end? But also, as the new year begins, you are introduced to three students who are more concerned about their last year of high school. All three live on Jasper, the northern most street in Emerald. Theo, Linda, and Carl have a friendship that began when they were freshmen. They exhibit a platonic relationship, although this might change. All three are interested in the spring play: Our Town. The town loves this play, and it has been performed many times. With this performance comes anxiety and a resolve that has an impact on everyone. The saga of life in Emerald, Iowa continues.
