Five Brothers Thru Time
Five Brothers, lived and worked for their ruthless father from the time they were capable until they made a decision on their own to leave and start a life of their own. They built homes and businesses in three states, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas, but most work was done in Ohio. The two older boys were born in New York City, and grew up there until the were old enough to help o ut the family, doing odd jobs and running errands for pay. The two younger boys were also born in New York City, but they were unwanted by the father. They were nearly a year old when he deided to take his family to Pennsylvania, where he hoped to find work. The twin boys were not treated very well at all, and Henry, the father made sure they knew they were unwanted. It meant he would have to work harder just to provide the necessities for two extra children, besides the two older boys. The fifth brother was born in 1941m just before War was declared. James and Roy, the older boys enlisted as they turned eighteen yeard old, mainly to get away from all the hard work Henry put them thru. James joined the Merchant Marines and Roy joined the Air Force. Both returned back to Ohio when their enlistments were over, and once again worked for the family. The twin boys wanted to get away as soon as they could, and Harvey ran away one day, olnly to be talked into returning by Roy. When the twins reached eighteen years of age, they left home to go visit some friends, but really, they left to enlist into the Air Force. Both sered their 4 year tours before getting outof the military, but later Harold joined the Army and spent 5 years more in the military. Harvey went thru the National Guard and Air Force Reserves before going back on active duty. He liked what the Army had to offer, so he opted to go into the Army also, but he stayed on active duty until he was at retirement age of 60. His time spend included a tour of duty in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. After retirement, he joined Dale on the road as vagabonds and toured the Western States for several years. Although Dale could not get into the military due to having flat feet, he worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 20 years before retiring to become a vagabond. Unfortunately, four of the brothers are gone now, and it is left to me to recount many of the things we all did.
