Taxitooist

Carol Nightingale

Product Description THE TAXITOOIST is the story of Hanover Schmaltz, (the parts of it that can be told!) the legendary Ontario tattooist, his divine spouse, Lyzzah, and his partner and confidant, Ambrose Lambertus; culminating in a triad with more than three sides and less than three angles. It's a ""fall off your chair laughing"" story; steeped in ribaldry, mysticism, and enchantment, an epical tale of the forbidden art that transcends into the kingdom of tattoodom. As well, this tale is a tribute and acclamation to the old-time tattoo artists - a vanishing breed - who didn't come out of a cookie-cutter. It celebrates their resourcefulness and resilience, and why we're here today. About the Author Carol Nightingale was born in a moose pasture in Northern Ontario. In his early youth he criss-crossed Canada riding freight trains just for the challenge and sheer adventure of it; between working in logging camps and other odd jobs. Then he went to sea on Merchant ships, spending twelve years on the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, both north and south. After quitting the sea he became a professional tattooist and barn-stormed the country from Nova Scotia to Vancouver; before running a shop in Washington, D.C., where he stayed twenty years. While there he gained recognition as the most innovative and renowned tattooist in the world, at that time; and tattooed some American Presidents (albeit on other people). He was awarded the first patent on a tattoo gun in America since 1929, (there was a patent issued in between to a Mr. Robbins - but to my knowledge nobody in the trade ever saw that instrument, or knew of him). Nightingale published a novella called ""THE TATTOO BARON,"" and created three registered trademarks; ""THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN NEEDLE,"" ""THE RIGHT HAND OF AMERICA,"" and the word ""DERMAGRAPHICS."" He improvised styles and methods of tattooing too numerous to mention here - and he did it all in a three piece suit.
