Brain Damage
Product Description Brain Damage chronicles the Starnes family's emotional and financial struggle surviving their son's traumatic brain damage to his remarkable physical progress in four years. Review This book is an honest and detailed accounting of what is unfortunately a common plight for many in America today. Individuals from good families and with adequate resources to meet the usual challenges of life are frequently overwhelmed emotionally and financially by a health system that is not only broken but at times seems almost sinister to those suffering under its care. The patient and forthright tone of this narrative stands in stark contrast to the frustration and anger it inspires in the reader through a detailed account of monotonous incompetence encountered in dealing with the bureaucracy of modern healthcare. It serves as a tragic primer for those who are destined to seek help from the medical establishment today. --Richard Soutar, Ph.D. BCN, 9 April 2013 About the Author Grady Starnes grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia, during the Great Depression of the 1930's. He graduated with a degree in English, on an athletic scholarship, from Piedmont College in 1953, the same year he married fellow student Anne Hawkins. After serving two years in the Army, Starnes earned an M.A. from Peabody Teacher's College. The author has been a high school English teacher, coach, textbook salesman, and consultant, and now writes about his many varied experiences. Brain Damage is Mr. Starnes' fourth book.
